About Sally

Monday, SEPTEMBER 19, 2011

Sally is a true Rexburg native, born and raised.  She is the middle daughter of 2 other Rexburg natives,  A. Lyle and Ruth Smith.  Sally attended Madison Schools, graduating in 1971. She then attended and graduated from Ricks College.

Sally married Rob Smith, another Rexburg  native in 1972 and soon became the mother of 3 children; Gordon in 1974, Brooke in 1976 and Jackee in 1978.  While the kids were little Sally developed her passion for service by becoming a member of the ESA Sorority, a national service organization.  She worked on local projects, as well as for St. Judes’s Children’s Research Center and Easter Seals. She soon worked her way up in the local chapter, serving in all offices, and then as District President.  She was always involved in what the kids were doing at school, serving in the PTA, as a room mother and spearheading carnivals and other fund raisers.

In 1976, the Teton Dam failed and Sally and her family were directly affected.  The family worked hard to recover, restore and rebuild and she will never forget the kindness that was given to the community by many volunteers from across the entire country. It was truly a humbling experience and a wake - up call to always be prepared for what can happen overnight to a community.

Sally obtained her real estate license in 1979.  Still raising her young family she worked part time until 1987 when she joined Century 21 as a full time agent.  Sally has been active in the Realtor organization throughout her career, serving in all offices and as Association President twice.

Sally has always been active in community efforts.  She has served on numerous committees including the Chamber of Commerce, Family Crisis Center Board of Directors and as a Republican Precinct Committeeman.  She has worked with Madison Economic Partner’s since 1996 and served as the President for 3 years.  She has served as United Way chairman for the Upper Valley and remains active with United Way.  She was the community liaison for the Lincoln Legacy Celebration with the Madison School District in 2009.
